
Course Description
Course description: The Home Support Worker Certificate Program prepares students to provide compassionate personal care and companionship to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and convalescent clients in residential settings. The program focuses on assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, mobility support, bathing, hygiene, and dressing. Students are trained in meal preparation, including special dietary needs, as well as home management tasks such as laundry, dishwashing, and bed making. The curriculum emphasizes client-centered care that supports independence, dignity, and overall well-being. Learners also receive training in family care and supporting clients with social and recreational activities. Specialized workshops in soft skills, dementia care, and First Aid and CPR are included to enhance professional readiness. The program equips students with effective communication and interpersonal skills essential for caregiving roles.
Students complete a 100-hour field placement to gain hands-on experience in real care environments. Placement opportunities may include home care agencies, supportive housing, retirement homes, group homes, adult day programs, and hospice settings.DURATION
