Course Description

Course outline: The Trades Program at is designed to prepare students for careers in the renovation and construction industries. Students learn how to build a home from the ground up, beginning with foundations, framing, and flooring, and progressing through drywall, painting, carpentry, and ceiling systems. The program also includes an introduction to essential building services such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Instruction starts with classroom-based theory to build a strong technical foundation. Students then apply their knowledge in the “Build a House” course, where they construct a multi-room house in a hands-on learning environment. Throughout the program, students develop critical skills including problem-solving, decision-making, task planning, teamwork, project management, numeracy, and organization. This combination of theory and practical experience gives graduates a strong competitive advantage when entering the workforce.
